This is a World War II home front story told as a novel in verse. Some of the vignettes are short, some long. All together they give the story of 8^th grader Eddie Carl’s life in Illinois: watching as his brother goes off to war, as prejudice affects a man’s life both in the US and in Europe, and as Eddie grows from a boy of five into a young man of fifteen who will stand up to people for people.
