Fish

by Gregory Mone

            Adventure Fiction

    • Pirates
    • Conduct of life
    • Ciphers/Puzzles
    • Buried treasure

Eleven-year-old Fish, seeking a way to help his family financially, becomes a reluctant cabin boy on a pirate ship, where he soon makes friends--and enemies--and is asked to help decipher clues that might lead to a legendary treasure.

Review from School Library Journal:

As Fish travels from farm to city to ship, he discovers his place in the world, and his moral compass helps to ground and direct the story. His decision not to engage in fighting and his efforts to stop the mutiny will provide points for group discussion. Fish makes a splashing good addition to adventure fiction."

From Mrs. Brown, Librarian @ Southwest Academy

Ahoy me hearties, this book was definitely a page-turner!  I could hardly put it down because I wanted to find out if Fish could get used to swabbing the deck and worse, the seat of easement (++ gross factor for guys++).  Would he figure out the mysterious coins?  Could he prevent a mutiny? Would he help Capt. Cobb find the long sought-after treasure?  ARRGGGH, those were the questions that kept me up at night!  So if you want to know the answers to those questions, CHECK OUT this book, me matey!
